Here are the estimates for the Wednesday before Christmas. Universal’s Little Fockers debuted in first place with $7.2 million from 3,536 locations. The last film in the franchise, Meet the Fockers, launched on the same day in 2004 and rang up an initial $12 million on its way to a five-day Christmas haul north of $70 million. That history is unlikely to repeat itself. True Grit opened in third place on Wednesday, with the Coen Brother’s take on the John Wayne classic estimating $5.2 million from 3,047 theatres. TRON: Legacy placed second on Wednesday with $5.3 million. After beginning the week with two days above six million, Disney’s fantastic voyage has a new domestic estimate of $62.1 million. Too bad that the BAD weather in Europe took a bite out of the film’s international profits; EVERY film’s international prospects, come to think of it. We’ll have updates throughout the holiday.
