Woof, not the most riveting weekend at the box office, folks. M. Night Shyamalan's twist-filled comic book character study Glass remains atop the pile with a $19 million haul, bringing the film's domestic total to $73.5 million. That's a win for Shyamalan and Universal, who produced the relatively small film for the pocket change amount of $20 million. But it was anything but a win for this weekend's newcomers, The Kid Who Would Be King and Serenity, both of which are tanking right out of the gate.

The Kid Who Would Be King, the first film from director Joe Cornish in eight years, opened to just $7.2 million, good enough for fourth place. Kid was neck and neck with Aquaman for a while, even taking in the same Friday night numbers as James Wan's DC Comics film, but the king of Atlantis eventually surged ahead for $7.3 million, spearing third place. The Kid Who Would Be King enjoyed positive reviews and a B+ CinemaScore, but this still might be a sign that audiences are just straight up not interested in a King Arthur update; 2017's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword similarly stumbled with a $148 million worldwide gross on a $175 million budget.

Steven Knight's Serenity could not crack the top 5 in its debut, ending the weekend in eighth place with $4.8 million. The broody seaside noir starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway currenlty sits with a clunker D+ CinemaScore; it appears when Collider's Matt Goldberg said "no one is prepared for this movie", he was extremely correct.

Meanwhile, Green Book expanded from 912 theaters to 2,430 in the wake of the drama's Best Picture Oscar nomination. Director Peter Farrelly's divisive take on the true story of Don Shirley and Tony Lip took in another $5.4 million thanks to the expansion, good enough for sixth place.

Check out the weekend's top 10 estimates below, and be back here next week to see if Miss Bala comes out firing.
