The Weekly TV ratings for Saturday, August 29th through Thursday, September 3rd are in; here are some of the highlights.

  • Hannibal closed out its series run Saturday night at 10 p.m. among a ton of preemptions that mean these numbers probably aren’t exact, but they’re what we have to go on. So supposedly the series breathed its last with a healthy 0.8 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, and 2.85 million viewers. I'll take it. Bon soir.
  • Sunday night, as is typical with AMC shows (big premieres, then a dip), Fear the Walking Dead dropped 16 percent in Week 2, to a 4.1 rating and 8.3 million viewers at 9 p.m. That’s still a lot of eyeballs. Also, it faced some competition from the MTV Video Music Awards (AMC shows also tend to do well in DV-R numbers), however …

The VMAs pulled 9.8 million viewers at 9 p.m. across all Viacom-owned channels, but was down 40% from last year to a 2.6 rating in the key adult demographic. But, live streaming was up 155%, as were Twitter mentions (more than any program other than the Super Bowl). But, there’s no way to monetize Twitter presence yet, bruh.

  • Sunday saw steady numbers for ABC’s Bachelor in Paradise at 8 p.m. (1.3 rating, 4.37 million viewers) as well as for the finale of Save My Life: Boston Trauma (0.7 rating, 3.12 million viewers).
  • Monday, though, saw some leaps, including American Ninja Warrior rising two points at 8 p.m. for NBC with a 2.1 rating and 7.32 million viewers (it’s most-watched episode ever). Running Wild with Bear Grylls was up several ticks to a 1.2 rating and 3.35 million viewers at 10 p.m (also on NBC), and The Whispers finale on ABC at 10 p.m. also got a little boost of a tenth to a 0.7 rating and 2.77 million viewers.
  • The CW also had an unexpectedly good night, with Pen & Teller: Fool Us rising a tenth to a 0.6 rating and 2.13 million viewers at 8 p.m., and Significant Mother rising to a 0.3 rating and 0.92 million viewers. According to TV by the Numbers, it’s the CW’s highest rated Monday night since May 11th, which featured the season finales of The Originals and Jane the Virgin.

Tuesday, Zoo stayed steady with a 1.0 rating and 5.83 million viewers on CBS at 9 p.m. And frankly, nothing else happened that night.

  • Wednesday though saw The Carmichael Show up two tenths to a 1.3 rating and 4.82 million viewers on NBC at 9 p.m., and another two point jump at 9:30 p.m. I’ve heard this show gets better than it first seemed to be, so it may be worth giving it another shot.
  • Extant on CBS at 9 p.m. (also on Wednesday) took a tumble to a 0.7 rating and 4.79 million viewers.
  • Thursday night was another ratings mess because of NFL preemptions on every network somewhere, so all of the numbers are inflated. But, it may be interesting to see how Under the Dome places, after having been cancelled. Its super-inflated preliminary numbers were a 1.4 rating and 5.67 million viewers at 10 p.m. on CBS, while the season finales of the on-the-bubble ABC shows Mistresses and Rookie Blue pulled their inflated numbers of 1.4/5.43 and 1.2/5.34 respectively.
