Weekly TV Ratings: ‘Hannibal’ Up, ‘Carmichael Show’ Strong in Debut, and More

The weekly TV ratings from Saturday, August 22nd through Thursday, August 27th are in, here are some of the highlights:

  • On Saturday, both Hannibal and Aquarius, at 0.7 and 0.8 respectively, showed solid upticks from last weekend’s 0.3 on NBC. ABC also had a sizable increase for Boston EMS, from last week’s 0.5 to this week’s 0.8.
  • Big Brother won Sunday night for CBS with a solid 2.2, while 60 minutes garnered 1.1. FOX’s NFL Pre-season Games put the channel in second place with a 1.8 and a 1.6. Elsewhere, ABC’s Bachelor in Paradise scored a 1.3, while the decidedly less entertaining Katrina: 10 Years After the Storm copped a 0.6.

    Monday was ABC’s night, with Bachelor in Paradise scoring 1.8, up from last week’s episode’s 1.5. After Paradise garnered 1.1, up hugely from 0.7, thanks to an appearance from Amy Schumer, and The Whispers was up slightly at 0.6 from ilast week’s series low of 0.5. NBC’s American Ninja Warrior held steady with 1.4, and FOX’s  So You Think You Can Dance matched last week’s ratings with 0.9. The CW saw advances with both Significant Mother (0.3, up from 0.2) and Penn & Teller: Fool Us, which went from 0.5 last week to 0.6.

  • NBC won out on Tuesday, despite flagship program America’s Got Talent being down from 2.3 to 2.1, and Hollywood Game Night being down from 1.3 to 1.1 in the key demos. On CBS, Zoo was marginally up to 1.1 from 1.0 last week. Both ABC and Fox saw drops: Extreme Weight Loss garnered a 0.6, compared to last week’s 0.7, and Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? was down from 0.6 to 0.5 in the demo.

    CBS and NBC tied for Wednesday, with Big Brother taking top honors with a 2.0 in the demo, followed by America’s Got Talent‘s 1.6, matching last week’s rating. NBC’s Carmichael Show is the summer’s second biggest comedy debut with 1.1 for its premiere, and 0.9 for its second episode at 9:30 p.m. EST. Last Comic Standing copped a 1.1, and Extant saw a bump to 0.8 from last week’s 0.7. On FOX, MasterChef garnered a 1.4, while Home Free hit a 0.8, down from 0.9 for last week. Elsewhere, ABC’s Celebrity Wife Swap grabbed a 0.8, and The CW’s America’s Next Top Model saw a slight uptick to 0.5, from 0.4, and A Wicked Offer up to 0.3 from 0.2.

  • Big Brother matched its 2.0 rating to win the night for CBS, with Under the Dome getting a slight rise from last week’s 0.8 to 0.9. NBC’s Food Fighters matched last week’s rating with a 0.9, and FOX’s Boom! saw an uptick at 0.7 from 0.6. Rookie Blue had a series low at 0.5 on ABC, while Mistresses held steady with 0.8 in the demo. Finally, The CW saw a slight rise in Beauty and the Beast from last week’s 0.2 to this week’s 0.3.
