It's officially the week of Wet Hot American Summer seeing as the Netflix series iteration of the project, entitled Wet Hot American Summer: The First Day, has apparently added Kristen Wiig, Chris Pine, Jon Hamm, and Jason Schwartzman to its already incredibly impressive cast. This is on top of the teaser trailer and title announcement we got yesterday.
Deadline reports on some potential details regarding their roles:
"Hamm will play a secret spy, Wiig is playing a snobby counselor at the preppy rival camp Camp Tigerclaw, Schwartzman is the boy’s camp head counselor while Pine’s character is described as mysterious."
The series, based on the 2001 film, will again be written by David Wain and Michael Showalter. Wain will return to the director's chair with Showalter serving as show runner. It was previously reported that Michaela Watkins (Trophy Wife), Josh Charles (The Good Wife), John Slattery (Mad Men), Randall Park (The Interview's Kim Jong-un), Jayma Mays (Glee), Lake Bell (Million Dollar Arm), Paul Scheer (The League), Rob Huebel (Transparent), and Richard Schiff would be joining the cast as well.
Original stars Elizabeth Banks, Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Joe Lo Truglio, Janeane Garafolo, Marguerite Moreau, Michael Ian Black, David Hyde Pierce, H. Jon Benjamin, Judah Friedlander, Nina Hellman, Zak Orth, A.D. Miles, Marisa Ryan, Kevin Sussman, and Christopher Meloni are all returning as well.
