At this point, Everything Everywhere All At Once is a runaway train with no brakes in its awards run. The multiversal epic starring Michelle Yeoh scored major wins at the PGA Awards before going on to set records at the SAG and Spirit Awards. Now, A24's darling struck again at the WGA Awards, polishing off its pre-Oscars guild sweep with a Best Original Screenplay win and beating out two other award darlings in Steven Spielberg's The Fabelmans and Todd Field's Tár in the process. Everything is going the way of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert's film ahead of the Academy Awards on March 12.

EEAAO has had very few misses throughout its awards run, only suffering a major loss to All Quiet On the Western Front at the BAFTAs. The WGA win, however, puts the film in a prime position to sweep the major awards at the upcoming Oscars. Best Original Screenplay seems like a strong possibility now given the film also won a Critics Choice Award for the writing of Kwan and Sheinert. Granted, it lacked competition from one of its fiercest rivals, The Banshees of Inisherin, due to its ineligibility for the WGAs.

Best Adapted Screenplay, meanwhile, went to Sarah Polley's Women Talking, the heart-wrenching tale of Mennonite women who plan their next move after their faith is shaken by sick, brutal attacks from the men in their community. Beating out both Top Gun: Maverick and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery among others, it's a major win for Polley that only cements her case for the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar. The feature section was rounded out with a win for Brett Morgen's juggernaut David Bowie documentary Moonage Daydream.

On the television end, the big winner was undoubtedly Apple TV+'s Severance which scored wins in both the drama series and new series categories, beating out some stiff competition between both categories in the form of Better Call Saul, Yellowjackets, Andor, Abbott Elementary, The Crown, and The Bear among others. Not to be left out, The Bear scraped out a win of its own in the comedy category, continuing its run of award love.

The White Lotus also scored yet another win in the limited series category while Better Call Saul earned a nod for the episode "Plan and Execution" alongside Hacks for "The One, The Only." As always, John Oliver continues to reign supreme in the comedy/variety talk series category, beating out both his former The Daily Show colleagues Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert among others.
