It’s been unclear for a while how much of a role Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) would play in X-Men: Apocalypse. While we guessed he wouldn’t be totally absent from the film, we reported back in November that reshoots would be adding more Wolverine to the film.

Today, we got a new X-Men: Apocalypse trailer, and it gave us not only a definitive answer that the film will indeed include Wolverine (which means that he’s in every single X-Men movie and spinoff, and really Wolverine 3 will mark the end of an era in its own way), but it also tipped us off to when he’ll probably appear in the movie. Judging by the trailer, which appears to show us all three acts of the film, Wolverine likely shows up somewhere in the late-second, early third act. At least, that seems like a safe bet.

Of course, the particulars of his reappearance (outside of it being violent) are still somewhat unclear. When we last left Wolverine in the 1973 of X-Men: Days of Future Past, he had been saved by Raven, who was posing as Stryker. So we’re left to wonder what kind of relationship do Raven and Wolverine have in this film?

This trailer also tells us that Wolverine has gone through the Weapon X program again because those are some shiny, adamantium claws he’s sporting. So did Raven actually save him? Or did he ultimately end up in Stryker’s hands? Since Days of Future Past reset the X-Men timeline, there’s a lot we don’t know, and I’m curious to see how much will be revealed by Apocalypse.

X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 27th and also stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn, Lucas Till, Evan Peters, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Alexandra Shipp, Josh Helman, Lana Condor, and Ben Hardy.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
