Sweet mercy, it's actually happening. The X-Files is officially back in business. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are in Vancouver right now filming the further adventures of Mulder and Scully, and now there's photographic proof. We've seen a lot of teases in the last couple weeks, but FOX is finally giving fans what they want with a look at Mulder and Scully reunited.
Aside from the fact that Anderson and Duchovny are both still wildly attractive people, there's not a lot to be gleaned from this image. That seems to be the way FOX wants it, as plot details are being kept tightly under wraps. Here's what we do know: the revival is expected to include Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) and Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis), and Joel McHale was recently added to the ensemble as the first announced new character - a conservative anchor of a popular internet news network who becomes an unlikely ally for Mulder.
The X-Files will return in 2016 for a six-episode run. Series creator Chris Carter will executive produce and write the limited series, which is said to combine the show’s overarching mythology with the classic “monster-of-the-week” format. The X-Filesrevival series will premiere on Sunday, January 24th, with the second episode following on Monday the 25th. Check out the first image of Mulder and Scully below.
