After directing three X-Men movies and producing four, X-Men: Apocalypse and Wolverine 3 could mark the end of Bryan Singer’s X-Men universe. The news comes from El Mayimbe who posted the following on Instagram:

#RUMOR I'm being told that X-MEN: APOCALYPSE & WOLVERINE 3 will mark the end of the Bryan Singer X-MEN universe he started back in 2000. Makes sense since Hugh Jackman also said Wolverine 3 will be his last film playing Logan. The end of an era.

Does that mean it's the end of Singer’s involvement in the film franchise or will Fox do a complete overhaul after those two films? We can’t be sure unless El Mayimbe clarifies, but it seems far more likely that it's only Singer who is out, especially after the studio just recruited a whole batch of up-and-comers to play young versions of some very familiar mutants.

We know that The Wolverine 3 will mark Hugh Jackman’s last go as Logan and it’s also highly unlikely that Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender will return, but if Apocalypse does well, why not let folks like Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) and Ben Hardy (Angel) take over? I’d like to bet they’ve got them all signed for multiple films anyway.

Hopefully we’ll get a little more clarification from Singer himself soon, but, in the meantime, what do you think? Would you like to see a soft reboot of sorts with the newer cast members?
