The X-Men are growing. As director Bryan Singer prepares to begin production on the sequel X-Men: Apocalypse in April, he continues to put together his cast. And if X-Men: Days of Future Past was about roping in familiar faces, Apocalypse is about replacing those familiar actors with younger counterparts. The film will no doubt be focusing on Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult’s characters, but Singer has been busy adding a number of young mutants to the ensemble, and the cast just grew by one more.

The Wrap reports that EastEnders actor Ben Hardy is in talks to fill a “key, as-yet-undisclosed” role in the 1980s-set sequel. One look at the actor seems to suggest that he’ll be playing Angel, and while The Wrap acknowledges rumors he was up for that character, the report says insiders insist he’s playing a different important role that’s being kept under wraps. Apparently Hardy was among the actors who tested to play Cyclops, so that’s how he landed on Singer’s radar.

In addition to the aforementioned performers, Rose Byrne is reprising her First Class role of Moira MacTaggert and Oscar Isaac is set to play the villain Apocalypse. And how about those young mutants? In an effort to keep everything straight, here’s where we stand with regards to the rest of the confirmed cast members:

Tye Sheridan (Mud) – Cyclops

Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) – Jean Grey

Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B) – Storm

Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) – Nightcrawler

Then we may or may not have Angel added to the mix, and indications point to Evan Peters returning as Quicksilver as well. If not Angel, who do you think Hardy is playing? What other young mutants would you like to see pop up in Apocalypse? Sound off in the comments below. X-Men: Apocalypse will open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
