While the talk in the world of comic book adaptations, for now, will likely be centered on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the subject matter will be changing frequently over the next few weeks. (Hell, last week, it was all Daredevil, all the time.) In a little over a month, the talk will switch to Captain America: Civil War, and then that will be followed quickly by X-Men: Apocalypse. This is how it works for the time being.

But thanks to an Empire cover story that will be hitting magazine counters awfully soon, we're getting some news about the hugely anticipated follow-up to X-Men: Days of Future Past this week, including the series of Empire covers we saw earlier this week. Today, we've got a gander at the limited edition cover that's saved primarily for subscription holders, but also two new photos from the film. One is a familiar image of Apocalypse laying on what looks like the bed where he is created, while the other is of Ben Hardy's Angel before he becomes Archangel. Nothing major is revealed, thankfully, but that doesn't mean that these images don't further stoke the anticipation fires for the arrival of Oscar Isaac as the God of all mutants. We shall see what all of this is leading to on May 27th, when Apocalypse is revealed for real.

Here's the two new images and the limited edition Empire cover:

Here's the official synopsis for X-Men: Apocalypse:

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
