Production is currently underway in Montreal on director Bryan Singer’s 80s-set sequel X-Men: Apocalypse, and while the film will continue the stories of well-established mutant characters like Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender), it’s also introducing a slew of comics characters both familiar and new. In addition to younger versions of mutants we’ve already seen in the movies (like Jean Grey and Cyclops), X-Men: Apocalypse is also bringing some folks to the screen for the first time—like Psylocke.

In the character’s first appearances in the comics, Psylocke was a mutant who simply had telepathic powers. But later, she transformed into a Japanese ninja assassin, adding highly developed fighting skills to her repertoire. The Newsroom actress Olivia Munn is playing Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse, and she recently shared a video on Instagram of some of her sword training:

So yeah, Psylocke looks to be pretty deadly. The cast of characters in Apocalypse is quite large, but also really exciting. I’m curious to see how much screen time will be devoted to establishing the young mutants, and where Munn’s Psylocke fits into the movie’s proceedings. We’ll probably get our first hint during the film’s almost-guaranteed Comic-Con panel next weekend, but we’ll find out for sure when X-Men: Apocalypse opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
