Director Bryan Singer isn’t set to begin shooting X-Men: Apocalypse until April, but he’s already on set and opted to share a little something from pre-production. The photo doesn’t actually reveal anything, but Singer’s caption certainly suggests that the very familiar doors that usually lead to Cerebro could be an entryway to something brand new. Here’s what Singer had to say about the image:

"I know. Old door. But there'll be something new behind it. #XmenApocalypse”.

There’s definitely a chance he could be teasing a new version of Professor X’s mutant pinpointing device, but I suspect Singer might be hinting at something completely different. I’m not particularly familiar with the X-Men source material, but many suspect the door could lead to The Danger Room, the training facility shown in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Singer tried to put the location in the first X-Men movie, but the scene was deleted and then he tried to build it for X2, but that plan was nixed due to budget concerns and you merely see a sign labeled “Danger Room” instead. Brett Ratner is the one who got the chance to go all out with The Danger Room in X-Men: The Last Stand, which features Storm, Wolverine and co. taking on a holographic Sentinel inside the location. After that, Singer showed off a Danger Room prototype in X-Men: First Class, the bunker used to help Havok hone his skills. Clearly he’s got a thing for The Danger Room, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he finally got the chance to build it himself for Apocalypse.

What do you think? Is it the Danger Room behind those doors or something else? Check out Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse set photo below:
