Captain America: Civil War isn’t the only superhero blockbuster opening this month. The Apocalypse is coming for the X-Men universe on May 27th, and that means the marketing for the film is getting a second wind. Fox is beginning to release a string of short video profiles of some of the characters starting with two of the Four Horsemen, Storm and Angel.
Alexandra Shipp has talked a lot about her role as the younger version of Ororo, but there’s still much to learn about Ben Hardy’s winged mutant. We’ve seen photos of his pre-Archangel transformation, fighting Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and Blob in a fight club-style cage match, but here the actor talks about the character’s darker side. “Angel is very angry,” Hardy said, “and he casts his shadow of death across the land.” Fans can also see new snippets of footage featuring Jean Grey’s (Sophie Turner) telekinetic abilities and Angel’s double-team attacks with Psylocke.
Elsewhere, Shipp explains in her own profile that Storm has “a darkness to her” as footage of the character’s weather manipulating power wreak havoc on the X-Men. Watch both videos below.
Michael Fassbender’s Magneto and Olivia Munn’s Psylocke make up the second half of Apocalypse’s Four Horsemen. Their video profiles can be seen below:

The villain, played by Oscar Isaac, recruits the mutants as his principal followers while he sets a plan into motion that’ll lay waste to mankind. In order to stop him, the younger generation of mutants at Xavier’s Institute must band together with the veterans. Other mutants featured in the film include Professor X (James McAvoy), Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Jubilee (Lana Condor), and Havok (Lucas Till).
Bryan Singer directs X-Men: Apocalypse, which is the culmination of two trilogies beginning with the first X-Men in 2000. For more of our coverage on all things X-Men, take a look at some of our recent stories below:
