Director Bryan Singer’s superhero “inbetweenquel” X-Men: Days of Future Past has an absolutely massive cast.  In addition to a handful of the X-Men: First Class cast, the film brings back nearly every mutant from the first three X-Men films and also throws in a couple of new characters like Peter Dinklage’s Bolivar Trask.  As such, fans have been wondering just which characters will be getting the majority of the screentime.  Coming off  a Best Actress Oscar win for Silver Linings Playbook, one imagines that Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique gets a fair amount of focus, and the actress recently spoke a bit about how the Days of Future Past Mystique differs from the version of the character that we saw in First Class, including a slight tweak to the makeup.  Hit the jump to read on.

Speaking with SciFi Now, Lawrence didn’t mince words when speaking about her body paint job in the film and added that they tweaked the First Class design a bit:

“I’m naked. But when I do get to wear clothes, I love the ’70s outfits.  Some of the Mystique look is a little different, but we’re still using the same paint.”

Lawrence also spoke briefly about her character arc in the pic, since she's now firmly on the side of Michael Fassbender’s Magneto with a different outlook on what it means to be a mutant:

“But she’s different in this film too. She was struggling – like a lot of normal humans – with the way she looked, and she was covered up a lot in the first movie, but this time she is Mutant and proud.”

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens in theaters on May 23, 2014.
