Fox is getting into the Marvel business with a pilot for a new X-Men TV series, tentatively titled Hellfire. Based on The Hellfire Club, a clandestine society of millionaires within the Marvel comics universe, who seeks to use their power to manipulate world events, and frequently wind up in conflict with The X-Men. Set in the late 1960s, the series will follow a young agent who discovers a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is organizing the club to take over the world.

Marvel Television and 20th Century Fox will co-produce the new X-Men spinoff series. MVPs of the cinematic X-Men universe Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg will executive produce alongside Lauren Shuler, Evan Katz, Manny Coto, Jim Chorey, and Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb. Coto and Katz will serve as showrunners.

Set in the late 1960s, the series – which will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Marvel Television, with 20th Century Fox handling the physical production – follows a young Special Agent who learns that a power-hungry woman with extraordinary abilities is working with a clandestine society of millionaires – known as “The Hellfire Club” – to take over the world.
