As I mentioned last week, Collider partnered up with LA-based special events group A-List Communications and sponsor Foster Grant Sunglasses to bring an exclusive “Supper Suite” pop-up to Austin during the first weekend of the sprawling film, music and interactive festival in Austin, Texas.
For three days from March 9-11, 2018, The “Supper Suite” has taken over Austin lounge Basecamp, located at 120 West. 5th Street and hosted cast cocktail receptions for six official SXSW film selections: American Animals, Support the Girls, Sadie, Outside In, A Vigilante, and You Can Choose Your Own Family.
Since these are private parties, I promised to share plenty of pictures and info from the party and up next is You Can Choose Your Family. If you’re not familiar with the film, here’s how IMDb describes it:
“Frank is the seemingly normal father of a loving family. However, his home life is hilariously turned upside down when his 17-year-old son discovers that his dad has a second family.”

“It’s 1992, the year Grunge music becomes mainstream hitting middle American teenagers directly in their angst. Phillip longs to leave his small town for music school in The Big Apple. His dreams are dashed when his overbearing father, Frank, played by Jim Gaffigan, forbids it. In retaliation to his father’s dictatorial parenting, he sneaks away for a wild spring break. However, when he crosses state lines he instead finds a charming lake community where he spots his father with another woman. Turns out, his father lives in this town and has an entire other family. With this new heartbreaking information Philip realizes he can wallow in his father's deceit or take matters into his own hands.”
