I have no ideas the rules that govern adaptations anymore. According to LA Times' Hero Complex, Zac Efron will be playing Jonny Quest in the "Johnny Quest" movie. Except the movie won't be called "Jonny Quest" because it will bring back too many negative connotations with "Speed Racer". Why? Are the Wachowski Brothers directing it? No. Is it because the source material is animated? Hasn't stopped "Transformers" or "Alvin and the Chipmunks" from making a mint. Is it because Warner Bros. is the studio for both films? Pretty sure most folks wouldn't see Jonny Quest trailer, note the WB logo in front, and then say, "This movie looks pretty good but it's made by Warner Bros. Fuck that!" The article's author, Geoff Boucher, agrees with me so he is clearly a wise and handsome soul. As for where the other pieces of this "Jonny-Quest-but-not-Jonny-Quest" movie may fall into place, there's talk that Dwayne Johnson is circling the project to play Race Bannon. I have no opinion on this since I only know "Jonny Quest" through popular culture and not through a single episode. It's about some Aryan kid and his Indian servant, right? Click here to be bad at understanding why some films fail and others succeed.
