We just learned that Michael Cera and John Hawkes will be leading Charlie Kaufman’s FX comedy pilot How and Why, and now word comes that Zach Galifianakis will be leading another promising pilot for the network.  THR reports that Galifianakis will star in an untitled comedy pilot from executive producer Louis C.K., which is the first project under C.K.'s recent development deal with the network.  Details are unknown at this point, but Galifianakis created the potential series and will co-write the pilot script with C.K.

Additionally, FX has finalized its cast for the drama series pilot HokePaul Giamatti is already attached to produce and star in the potential show, which is described as a darkly comedic drama that revolves around a hardboiled and possibly insane homicide detective in pre-chic Miami in the early 1980s.  Scott Frank (The Lookout) wrote and will direct the pilot, and he’ll act as co-showrunner with David Manson if Hoke goes to series.  The pilot will shoot in Miami.  Hit the jump for the full cast listing.

LOS ANGELES, January 8, 2014 – FX has finalized its casting on the drama series pilot Hoke, starring actor/producer Paul Giamatti, with Oona Chaplin, John Carroll Lynch, Robert Wisdom, JordiMollà and Tammy Blanchard rounding out the cast. Hoke is produced by FX Productions, and production on the pilot will begin this spring in Miami.

Scott Frank wrote and will direct the pilot episode, and he will be Co-Showrunner with David Manson if Hoke goes to series.  Frank, Manson, Curtis Hanson, Carol Fenelon, Paul Giamatti and Dan Carey are Executive Producers. 

Hoke is a darkly comedic drama based on Charles Willeford's series of novels SideswipeNew Hope for the Dead and The Way We Die Now.  It is a story of mid-life crisis and murder that features the hardboiled and possibly insane homicide detective, “Hoke Moseley” (Giamatti), in pre-chic Miami circa early 1980s.

Oona Chaplin plays “Ellita Sanchez,” a sharp young homicide detective recently promoted from dispatcher to Hoke’s new partner.

John Carroll Lynch plays “Bill Henderson,” an old guard Miami PD detective and Hoke’s former partner who is equally as miserable in the recently diversified department.

Robert Wisdom is “Major Brownley,” the head of the Miami PD Homicide Squad who has a long history with Hoke and his antics.

Jordi Mollà plays “Armando Zuniga,” a sociopathic Cuban man who arrives on the shores of Miami in the rumpled, faded clothing of a peasant Cuban refugee and integrates into the city posing as a famous poet of the Cuban people.

Tammy Blanchard plays “Loretta Hickey,” the striking mother of a murdered drug addict who Hoke comes across while investigating the case.

Chaplin recently wrapped an arc on HBO’s Game of Thrones, and was also seen on BBC’s The Hour.  Wisdom is best known as playing “Major Howard ‘Bunny’ Colvin” on the HBO series The Wire, and was most recently seen on the ABC series Nashville.  Molla recently wrapped a supporting role in Ron Howard’s In The Heart of the Sea, and this past summer he starred opposite Vin Diesel in Riddick. Tammy Blanchard won an Emmy® Award for playing the young Judy Garland in the ABC miniseries Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows.  Lynch’s latest credits include the NBC series Do No Harm and the ABC series Body of Proof.
